As a naturopathic family practitioner, Dr. Monawar Fahoum's
interests and specialties include homeopathy, diet and
nutrition, botanical medicine and physical medicine
(bodywork, adjustments, etc). She views healing as a dynamic
process, unique to each person, with different treatments
appropriate for different patients. These philosophies allow
Dr. Fahoum the flexibility to move between modalities in
treating illnesses from the common cold to diabetes,
hypertension and chronic disease as well as equipping
patients for disease prevention and optimal
well-being.
Dr. Fahoum began her study in medicine at the University of
Washington where she received her B.S. in Cellular and
Molecular Biology in 1999. She went on to study the science
of natural medicine at Bastyr University, graduating in 2004
with a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine.
Dr. Fahoum’s background in conventional medicine provided a
solid foundation for her current work. To gain exposure to
conventional medicine she worked as an intern in the hospital
of Nazareth, Israel during her attendance at Bastyr
University. After graduating from medical school, she
continued her training at Aradia Women's Health Clinic,
University of Washington Medical Center and with specialists
in orthopedics, cardiology and pediatrics.
After exploring the world of research at the University of
Washington, Dr. Fahoum realized that the key to a patient's
health was not adequately addressed in the laboratory. She
was fortunate to discover early on that the key is in
educating and helping patients understand and apply changes
to their lives that are appropriate to their unique
constitution and life circumstances. She came to believe that
all of our choices affect the basic foundations of health
that shape each of our lives. Along with learning evidenced
based, natural medicine at Bastyr, Dr Fahoum learned how to
guide her patients in eating healthily, appropriate exercise,
and improved family and social consciousness. Dr. Fahoum's
time at Bastyr educated her on the Natural Medical Sciences,
but also the value of conventional medicine.
